Decks & Fences

Decks and fences that handle the winters

Outdoor work here has to survive deep frost, heavy snow and spring melt. We build decks and fences on proper footings, with drainage and materials chosen for the climate.

Decks & Fences done properly

Most deck and fence problems come from footings that heave with frost, wood that stays wet, and fasteners that corrode. We plan footings to the depth the conditions require, keep water moving away, and use hardware rated for the job.

Decks over a certain height or attached to the house usually need a permit. We check what applies to your property and handle it.

Built for our climate

Frost and footings

Footings that are too shallow lift and drop with every freeze and thaw. Doing them properly is the difference between a deck that stays level and one that does not.

Build in the right season

Concrete and outdoor finishes have temperature limits, so most exterior work is scheduled for the warmer months. Book early in the year for a summer build.

Decks & Fences: common questions

When should I book a deck?

Late winter or early spring is a good time to plan, so the build can happen once the ground and weather allow.
